Composer Note:

Perdure is a piece written by a request from timpanist Jenna Boone after an injury and ongoing tendon problems made it difficult for her to play consistently with two hands. After discovering a lack of one-handed timpani repertoire, she had requested I contribute to the growing demand for accessible music. According to Merriam-Webster, "perdure" means "to continue to exist". I found this to be a fitting title for a piece written to be played with only one hand. Against the odds, in situations where playing music proves to be rather difficult—or almost impossible—the skills of these musicians shall perdure.

This percussion solo was premiered on 5 April 2022 in the Capistrano Concert Hall at California State University, Sacramento. It was wonderfully performed by Jenna Boone.

This piece is only available to be purchased as physical sheet music and is unavailable to be downloaded digitally.
